Help wanted locating man for assaulting blind person, Roanoke Rapids police say

Roanoke Rapids police are searching for a man, Clinton Reade Powell, following an assault on a blind person. The incident took place at a housing complex near West 10th Street on January 3. The victim, a 70-year-old blind person, reported that Powell had been staying with him as he was homeless, and they knew each other personally. When the victim asked Powell to leave, Powell allegedly punched him in the face, leaving him with minor injuries. Roanoke Rapids police obtained warrants for Powell on charges of simple assault and second-degree trespass.

Additionally, Powell had an outstanding warrant for felony larceny of a motor vehicle from an incident in July 2022, lodged by Corporal P. Rackley of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
