California police seek a suspect in the hit-and-run deaths of 2 young siblings

Authorities in Antioch, California, are on the lookout for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run collision that tragically claimed the lives of two young brothers on Friday night. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m., prompting a response from the Antioch Police Department.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a traffic collision involving two vehicles, one of which was carrying two boys aged 12 and 13. Despite being transported to area hospitals by ambulance, the young brothers succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene on foot, leaving the authorities to launch a search for the suspect. Preliminary investigations suggest that speed and reckless driving played a role in the incident, as noted in a statement released by the police.

A witness at the scene reported observing a black SUV speeding past, followed by the sound of a crash. The witness assisted the man, believed to be the father of the two boys, in removing one of the children from his car, according to KGO-TV.

The Antioch Police Department has urged the public to come forward with any information regarding the hit-and-run incident. Authorities are seeking assistance from the community to aid in their ongoing investigation.
