Milwaukee warming shelter sites; 211 hotline use encouraged

The City of Milwaukee has announced plans to open warming shelter sites by December 4 and potentially close them by March 31, 2024. The warming shelter locations include Milwaukee County’s Hillview, Greater Galilee Baptist Church, Guest House Milwaukee, St. Ben’s (if the temperature is 25°F that evening), Repairer’s of the Breach, and Milwaukee Rescue Mission.

Individuals in need of services at warming shelters are encouraged to call 211 to receive up-to-date information. Mayor Johnson emphasized the potential dangers of cold temperatures, particularly for unhoused individuals in the community, and urged vigilance as winter approaches.

To report concerns about someone in the community, outreach teams can be contacted at [email protected]. Proactive outreach is conducted Monday through Friday, both during the day and overnight hours.
